For a small town, Abergavenny has plenty of entertainment. There is an independent cinema and theatre, the Borough Theatre. The Angel Hotel offers pre-theatre dinners before certain shows at the Borough Theatre, which is just a short walk up the street.

With several excellent choirs in the area and a thriving brass band in town, there are often concerts taking place.

The oldest theatre in the whole of Wales is to be found in Monmouth and the nearby city of Newport has a new arts centre - the Riverfront.
